I have the Kahr P380. The size and smooth trigger is what I like along with REAL steel handgun sights dovetailed to the stainless slide. The smaller the gun the more difficult to obtain total reliability. I have had good luck with mine, so far. It did not like the SIG 100 gr. FMJ with a flat tip. They lacked slide kicking inertia, while cheaper Federal 95 gr. JRN, ran fine. I bought some Hornady Critical Defense XTP's and have yet to test them. It's time to replace the springs in my gun too, maintenance. The recoil spring is three springs inside of each other, weird but it works, and the striker (firing pin) single spring.

I worry about inserting a mag and racking the tiny slide. I've had a manual function failure to feed once or twice pushing the JHP back into the case a few thousandths. At $1 a shot I don't want to mess up performance or the cartridge. I'm sure it was my technique, maybe not racking it fully.

Would it be better to insert a round in the chamber and allowing the slide to snap shut off the stop? I want to ensure the extractor is fully engaged, round fully chambered. Then I insert a mag with (5) rounds more. Again I've heard that a full tilt mag can rub the underside of the slide with more pressure than designed on some guns (the HP being one, better with 12+1, not 13+1). On such a small gun with limited inertia it sounded good to me.

I prefer my .38 actually but sometimes it sure is nice to slip that little flat rig into my pocket. It even has three dot night sights!

Scotty, I always let the slide pull one from the magazine.

Always leary of having the extractor jump the rim. Never fooled with a .380 though. Maybe you are not letting the slide go, and slowing it down.

Not a lot to hang onto and it's stiff!

No way at all my wife could manage it, she just does not have the hand strength to pull that slide. She is a wheelgun girl anyway. If I consciously pull it to a positive stop and let go, all is well. If I get slightly distracted it can hang on the nose.

Kahr makes a extended 7-shot mag I was going to get for a back-up.

I carry Hornady 90 gr XTP @1000 fps

At least thats whats written on the box. Ruger LCA 380 1 in the barrel at all times 5 more in the mag. I figure if I have a problem, ie the mag coming loose in your pocket, you still got ! to put in your forehead hahaha I like the handy little guy. course in my town the truck with the real guns are close by.
By the way Scott, I havent forgotten your Lyman Press, I promised, it just I havent found it yet hahaha

Lol I forgot myself, no worries my friend.
