It is the 405 Winchester necked down to 9.3
I have a Encore pistol and rifle in 366GNR.
The pistol is 13” including the muzzle brake. I get 286gr swift aframe to
2150fps and the 250gr Accubond to 2225fps. Not bad for 11” of burn tube!
My rifle is 22” including brake , the 250gr Accubond run 2650fps

Would this be a caliber you would use in Africa and at what range?

Shots ran between 100 and 150 yards recovered no bullets. All passed through. I used the Swift a gram 286gr at 2150fps. If I go back next year I will use it again with the 250 gr Accubond at 2225fps. Should kill anything I would hunt out to 200 yards if I can hit someone that far out! [image] [image] [image] [image]

It would be lots of trouble to get a not catalogued caliber although Bob would probably give it a try as long as I paid the piper. I was looking at a factory caliber, Gary said the 9.3X74R was salty! But it should have about the same performance as Gary's .366 GNR.

You can't take extra barrels to Africa?! Might as well rig out a take along second Encore rig. The 9.3X62 has no rim, a downer for me. I already have a .378 GNR and that is so good it's hard to justify another. The .338 GNR would be hard to disregard though. I would relish a tapered tube 16" again. Bob makes the FA2008 in .338 Federal which is a great factory handgun caliber but rimless too. A FA barrel kit with snazzy scope mount, ported, costs about what a whole Encore gun does. So thinking out loud helps! lol

It was a one shot kill on the poor mans Cape buffalo. that is as good a testament to the cartridge as I could give.
