and here are a few thoughts for people who are thinking of going.

Be honest with yourself and what you want. If you go only looking for 4 animals and don't care about trophy size then you will be done in a couple of days. That means you will spend a lot of time with a camera in your hand rather than a gun. There is a lot of game to look at and a lot of species. You may THINK you will only shoot X, but once you are there, you may reconsider. Make a long list in order of what you might want to shoot. Save your money and realize that you might overspend a little. That's ok. Money comes and goes. But that Kudu is only going to stand there so long.

Learn about the animals prior to going. Look at a lot of our photos and what is on the internet. What do you like about certain ones, what is that certain trait that makes that animal special to you? In my case it was the brindle of the hide on a Blue Wildebeest that made me want one. I took a nice one and am having the hide done. I think it will score really high for a handgun kill and am having a euro mount done, just in case it does rank up there.
Knowing more about the animals will let you be a little more picky and happier with what you do get.

Let your PH know. Talk to them about each animal and your expectations, desires and limitations(if any). Also make sure you talk with the person that you are hunting with and what their expectations are. This way everyone is on the same page.

I think pretty much everyone in the group shot more than they expected, and none regretted it one bit.

When it comes to taxidermy, think about how many more times you might go. I say this because it truly is a hunt of a lifetime, and to shoot seriously trophy quality animals like this is rare. You may want to bring home more than a photograph showing your accomplishment. I am not a trophy guy, dont have a single one in the house. But the Kudu is getting shoulder mounted, even the kids are pushing for it. I didn't intend to shoot a Kudu, but when he stood up 'Holy shit' came to mind and the gun
came out without even thinking.

Lastly, Don't hesitate to reach out and ask questions. Everyone here will gladly answer your questions. All of us had different views and opinions on what we expected and did, but all of us had a grand time and would hope to do it again. The trip may seem daunting at first,
but it isn't. Do it!
