the older bulls that had worn their horns down fighting and had chips and cracks in their horns. That would have been about $11,500. I told John this would probably be my last safari so he said the hell with the scrub bull, let's get a good one. I asked him what did he consider a "good one". He said #1 of course. And he did. We looked at dozens of big bulls that I would have been happy with but he passed them up. Finally we spotted this one and with a bit of luck I got him. John did a preliminary scoring of him and said he would rank #1 handgun in SCI. We have to wait 60 days for the final scoring but even if he drops down several notches (which John said there was no chance of that) I would be happy and feel extremely blessed. That is the bull of a lifetime and if I never go back that was a helluva way to end it (even if it was over double the price of the scrub bull).

To top it all off, John got me onto a huge Tsssebe, a big Red Lechwe and a big Bontebuck. Again with preliminary scoring, all 3 would be either #1 or #2. If they end up top 10 I will be happy. The reason I say that is several of my guys also took Lechwe and Bontebuck that, to me, looked bigger. We'll see. All 3 were taken with the 310 GNR at ranges from 80 yards to 189 on the Lechwe.

And these were less than 1/4th of the animals taken. But there is no doubt in my mind that every one of these will go record book plus quite a few others. I don't have all the pictures here on my computer at home but these animals are true trophy animals and animals to be proud of. Hopefully some of you will be on next year's hunt. It will be on that same great hunting concession that is loaded with record book animals. We still have 4 openings left. join us if you can.
