my memory. Late '70s, left Phoenix early evening driving to Dallas, non-stop of course, hit El Paso just past midnight, freeway almost empty but still I slowed down to about 85. lights of Juarez shimmering across the Rio Grande, and local radio station playing Abba's Fernando. It was surreal.
Been to El Paso several times since, but none can compare to that memory.
I read they were offered a "Billion" dollars to tour

But maybe a thousand-million does not go as far today. Fernando, Waterloo, Dancing Queen, if I had a dollar every time I heard them on the radio... A tune called S.O.S. was a favorite of mine too.
That blonde! It was sort of a Mary Ann vs Ginger vibe going on there.
