Going through some old stuff and found the receipt for my Weatherby MKV Deluxe .270WM. $601.70 out the door with a box of cartridges! Got it at the Weatherby shop in Los Angeles and met Ed Weatherby too. Bought it and walked right out! February 19, 1982, the same day I transferred off the USS Lang (FF-1060) in Long Beach, Ca and headed to 6 months of PHALANX gun system school in San Diego! Those were the good old days!!!

Research Institute in 1976 I got to work with the guys that were doing the initial targeting research for the radar for the PHALANX. I learned a lot about radar design from them and the theory of radar detection. I bought a Walther PPKS that year and paid $400 for it. Carried it for years until I could afford a good 45. Those were the good ole days alright.

the late 80’s , massive to say the least. You are right, we won’t see pricing like that again.
