Thank you for posting that article. I am in the New Hampshire moose lottery again this year . Hopefully I get drawn this year. I been in the raffle for years, and I still have not gotten lucky. Again great article and Moose. Pete

for preference points in both NH and Maine.

I am hoping things will be better lined up for a good hunt next year. I know it is a long shot but I have a ton of points saved for Maine.

John I did Maine also for years. No luck.

I'd be tickled pink to have that trophy James!

I have talked to a couple of outfitters in Alaska about

booking a Moose hunt but I really don't know if I want to spend $12,000 on a moose hunt. It would be neat to take one with a handgun but for some reason it doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe next year.

I wish the Misfits could do a group AK moose hunt.

and am running that thru my head right now. The bear hunt would be considerably less expensive than the Moose and we could take either Grizzly or Black Bear.

What would approximate price of a bear hunt

outfitter. The last time it was $3500 plus the tags, licenses etc. I would venture a guess at $4300 to $4500 plus the paperwork. That is just a guess. The camp holds 6 and it was September when we were there. Lots of bears seen. The tag allowed you to get one bear, either a Grizzly or a Black. If you shot a Black, that was your bear, no Grizzly. We were seeing 10 to 15 bears a day. Most of our time was wading the streams where the bears were feeding on the spawning salmon. When we weren't wading we were sitting in ground blinds. I sat in a ground blind where 2 streams came into one bigger one. I had probably 5 or 6 bears come up within 15 feet of me and woof at me, and bounce on their front legs. I couldn't see anything but their head and shoulders, not enough to take a shot. I tried making a rabbit squeak to get them in closer but they just woofed at me and eventually walked away. I sat there for 3 days before I finally got a shot. It ended up being a point blank shot with my 510 GNR. Two shots at about 2 feet. I was wearing black jeans and a black rain jacket and George said the bear thought I was a small black bear and decided to eat me.

Anyway, I want to go back. Not sure when. Still getting over the price of the Cape Buffalo, not that I regret it. I would gladly do it again but it was about double what I had planned on spending.

Anyway, I will talk to George and see if he is still guiding. His wife had some bad health problems and he may not be guiding anymore. I will pass along what info I get.

Thanks Gary I will watch for info.
