Reeder Custom Guns - Anyone ever heard of issues with using a bore snake? Had a

“expert” tell me never use them. Could not tell me if actual Hoppes or a chinese knock off, says it ruined his chamber. I choked so I would not laugh, just asking for tribal input.

along in cleaning gear in may years. It is sort of a copy of the old military cleaning gear of many years ago. No possible way it could ruin a chamber.

after a while I got call saying the acww had destroyed the rifling in his barrel--a 7.5 " Redhawk .41
Nope can not do that -- with your finger nail you can distort the bullets you cast --your finger nail will do absolutely nothing to the STEEL which harder and stronger than your lead-- -- is it leading I asked -- he did not know so -- I took a look no leading-- but his rifling was messed up --it was a used weapon & ruger replaced the barrel --he quit casting and sold every thing-- never did how the rifling got buggered -- I think he still blamed the acww bullets he was making

have torn something up if it were possible and have not. I got one stuck once, maybe a .50 in a .45 etc. Had to tie it to a post and put my feet against it and Puuuuuuuuulllllll. It came out and a sparkling bore and chamber. Pulled many separated cases from chambers too with them. Best thing since sliced bread. IMO

I just HAD to get a ruger SA and load it HOT with 300 gr bullets and triplex loads. I had just started casting so I decided to slug the barrel by pushing a slug thru the barrel to get a perfect measurement. Problem is I used a flat blade screwdriver to push the bullet thru 7 1/2 inches of barrel. Buggered up the bore Baaaad.

The loads were so hot my palm would swell up after a cylinder full. Had to go to the doctor for the swelling. I don’t know if my screwdriver antics messed with accuracy because I flinched so bad I couldn’t hit my target at 25 ft.

It's amazing I lived through some of those years.

from having a bad mishap in damaging things or the less likely event of me blowing something up. I got an aluminum, very light obstacle, lodged in the bore of a revolver (quite lately) and finally resorted in a very well calculated effort to scoot it down the bore. This was to rely on peak pressures being bled off via the cylinder barrel interface. In essence by firing a hot blank. AND doing it remotely via pull string in a box! I'm not actually stupid as some might argue, only ignorant perhaps.

Again, by the blessings of the Lord my calculations worked out. I also am grateful to my mentor Jim Taylor who provided his tenured scientific input with "try it and see". lol

in increasing grits. It only shined it up more, slicked things up. You have to really, really, do some goofy stuff, like a screwdriver, to mess up the steel.
