Trying to help a friends widow who is trying to estate sale his guns. I think the LGS may be lowballing her.for instance he had a 1989 FA Premier 454, 7 1/2" bbl, ported (looks like 4 port magnaport) and they told her it was worth $800 at most - retail. It is in pristine condition, does that sound right to you guys.

LGS is lower than a RAT!!! $1600 mim.

will sell at those prices. Retail new is way up there plus right now an 8 month wait. When wait time for new is long, they sell at reasonable prices quickly.

SEEMS WAY TOO LOW. Not sure what the 1989 model is?

A current model 83 is selling in the range a bit over $2300 new. I think their MSRP is about $2800. Are the ports factory? They do port some like the 50 cal guns. If added later could decrease value a little but make it a bit easier to shoot. I would think at retail it should sell anywhere from $1750-$2000. Others will surely chime with their experience.

A year ago my LGS had used basic FA at $2,500.

$1750 retail - 40% = $700...that's what most gun shops will offer on used guns. gotta make $$$ somehow

Nobody can stay in business if they pay retail to resell at

Widows either, offering her $600 for a gun that retails for $1100 or $1200 foesn't seem fair. Also yelling retail gor is $800 just seems dishonest. Offering her $600 and saing that's the most he can go would morally be non objectionable to me but misrepresenting the value is, to me objectionable!

that's bullshit. a 40% mark up is out of the question. That

is what a rip off pawn shop will offer. We give the people the price the Blue Book shows and then we mark it up 10 to 15% max. That way it gives the family money right now and the gun sells quick and everyone is happy.

Dont know where you learned math but 60% of that would be $1

You have to sell it for what it will bring. If you advise her to sell it for more, then it might cost her more in the long run. Look at what Gary does with his estate deals. He tells the price the gun could probably bring, but then lists it for a price where it will sell sooner, not later so the widow or heir has real money now instead of hopeful money later.

1300-1500 range. Some less some more, depending on condition and what extras there are. They are the most common and so dont always bring the most dollar. There are several on one of the auction sites that are going in that range right now.

Thanks to all who responded

If I wasn't saving for a Montana Hunter I would probably offer her $1500 for it. Gonna take her and all the guns to a large gun shop up in Birmingham. After talking with my hem on the phone I feel they will treat her fairly.
