answer was correct...Has Ruger ever put aluminum housings on Super Blackhawks? In over 40 years of working on Rugers, I don't remember ever seeing an aluminum housing on a 44 Magnum.
Ive never heard of it due to cracking on early guns...

BEGINNING AT #15000. THE REASON GIVEN WAS RECOIL WAS RIPPING THE STEEL ONE OFF. ALL THE .44 FLAT-TOP OM MODELS HAD ALUMINUM HOUSINGS AND I REPLACED A LOT OF ALUMINUM HOUSINGS ON OM AND NM RUGERS INCLUDING SUPER BLACKHAWKS. GOT A BOX FULL OF ALUMINUM HOUSING TAKE-OFFS.
I still have an old 3 screw 44 that originally came

with an aluminum housing. Garys folks turned it into a classic 45 and now has steel on it. Its an older 5 digit gun.

. . . half-cocked it's important to recall that ejector rod housings, just like grip frames, are "screwdriver variations". Many have been swapped both ways in the past. Both the Old Model .44 Flatties as well as the Old Model .44 Supers will be found with either aluminum or steel ejector rod housings, and there are even variations within the housing details.

Serial number range 15000 (1964) thru 80-64750, last of the Old Models.
Info from John Dougan's wonderful book, RUGER PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS, The Vintage Years, 1949-1973.
Don't know anything about the New Models.
I'm talking about ejector rod housings.

the extractor rod thru the housing, so it is not steel. Engineer cannot run a magnet LOL
