that case has so much surface area, the same as a .45-70. It (the G2) will actually handle a .45-70 but for the case head surface area the .45-70 is lots lower pressure = less bolt thrust. It can stress the frame hinge, the .480's higher pressure at the same area. Some folks may do it, I'm not sure.

Lots of GNR cartridges on the .30-30 and .405 case platform. The .45 Colt case head is about as big as I like for the G2 and moderate pressure. You can't do a .454 etc. The .444 SM might be about tops. Gary's mighty .378 GNR can be done even since the case diameter is smaller for the pressures.

If you really want .480 size rounds just graduate to the Encore frame and Pirate length barrels!
