A friend found this deal for Crossman "Redtail" air rifles in .22 cal. for about $70 with a 4X scope and mounts. So we bought two of them to split shipping. $163 delivered for (2) with Gamo hunter tin(s) of pellets. It is a "Nitro-piston" with no spring. I've wanted to try one for a while. You can keep them cocked while walking around and no sacking of a spring can occur. the shooting is much more smooth and easy on scopes too, I can verify that now.

The gun is full size and all synthetic, maybe 6 lbs. The barrel is shrouded in polymer material and has a built in "suppressor" to negate the pop upon firing. It sort of makes a "thunk" sound. The power is supposed to be north of 900 fps! Sure seems that to me.

I mounted the scope using the provided alloy 1" rings with scope stop on the rear. I sighted it in with about 12 rounds firing at a piece of gravel 30 yds. distant. Last one I rolled it. The trigger is two stage and seems livable. Everyone complains about the 4X32 scope but it is crisp and clear and movements index as marked.

Shop around and seek out the online discount codes for even more savings. A deal, everyone could use one of these!

I picked up a GAMO 177 last year for $69. It was marked way down and I couldn't pass it up even though I have four others.

I forget the model but the one thing I don't like is the safety location and that the safety is not engaged when the rifle is cocked which is just the opposite of the other air guns I have.

This one has a SKS style safety and does not auto engage.

Yep, the safety is in front of the trigger
