as a hint, the overall length of the cylinder is 1.3

so obviously that leaves out the bigger cartridges and the longer cartridges.

Hmmm so that narrows down the possibilites

I am guessing 380 or 32 ACP? Not many rimmed cases left that fit into that category. Either one would be far more effective than a 22 for defense, however, not my first choice for a light packable trail gun. Or are we looking at a new cartridge design and we will all just have to wait?

32 H&R will work just fine

I think that would still be too long as the max OAL is 1.350

.45 ACP OAL is 1.275 inches.

45acp is

Too big

I think the ss trail guns limit is the 40s&w/10mm on 5 shot

remember, we are not talking about a Single Six

this is a custom Bearcat and the loading gate recess is tiny compared to Blackhawks or even a single six.

OK then, how 'bout something like . . .

.30 Carbine with flush wadcutters?

Or shortened and necked down to .22 or .25?

32 s&w long is my guess

I'm guessing something in 25cal.

Looking again at the spacing of the cylinder

Stops it’s is a 5 shot so I don’t think there is much room for anything over the 32H&R he does in the Hellcat. Could do a 7.62x25 or a 32acp

I’ll bet it’ll be cool and unusual, that’s the best I can do
