trying to decide which is the better build on the 357 Max revolver of mine you already have. I plan to have it built with an 8" round, heavy barrel w/o sights and D&T for a scope mount only as it's going to be a longer range revolver. Does one of these two cartridges have an edge over the other for my purpose?

Not Gary but on the Ruger frame I think

Gary will only do the 41GNR#2. The 411GNR NEEDS Gary’s frame. Go with the 41GNR#2 and the 8” that is what has worked so well for me for years. My #1 go to gun.

Blake, that is kind of what I'm thinking on.

For a scoped hand gun. Have shot more running game with it and shoot offhand out to 75 yards as pretty normal. Off a rest I have put in some nice groups. And put 50 rounds in a 8” circle at 100 yards. It just works great.

Looks like it will be the 41GNR#2. Thanks everyone.

Blake is right. For the 411 GNR you would

need our stretch frame. The 41 GNR#2 is perfect in the Ruger maximum frame.

I know the Ruger 357 MAX frame with hold a 41 GNR#2 because I own one. I don't think the Ruger Max frame will hold the 411 GNR. Gary can answer that question better than me.

I have a 41 GNR#2 on a Contender with a 11" + 2" brake barrel and the accuracy is outstanding. I shoot 210 grain XTP's at 2050 fps. for almost 2000 lbs. of kinetic energy.

Woody, this is my Gary Reeder

Desert Thunder on Gary's website, but a longer bbl and no sights. I like the set-up Blake has, but will go with the grip-frame that comes standard with the Desert Thunder with a bit more room for a gloved hand. If I don't like it, I can change it.
