Today, 25-06, three boxes of brass and dies. Already have an 18" 256 Falcon for deer. Now need a 20" -22" braked thumper barrel in 30 to 45 caliber in one of Gary's cartridges and a second Encore frame. Looking for some decent 4x and 6x fixed power scopes for them too. I really prefer fixed to variable power for my rifles.

Nice

My old hands can't take the recoil like they used to

Nor my shoulders. Gonna look at the ballistics data and try to get some thing Gary makes with ballistics between 30-06 and 45/70 but with a brake

I have a 25-06 Encore..

I bought it because the price was right. I had no intention of keeping the barrel. But I shot it and was impressed. Sierra 117s really knock a deer on it's ass. I've found it forgiving to load for. I passed up a great deal on a 257 Weatherby because I'm so impressed with the 25-06. When I find a bolt action I like in that caliber I'll have Gary trim the encore barrel back to pistol length.

Good to know

I passed up on a Ruger #1A at the LGS because it was 257 Roberts and my 256 Falcon looks like it will have similar ballistics. As much as I used to love bolt actions I am thinking a couple of Encore frames with about 6 barrels should be adequate for anything I might ever do.
