Skeeter Skelton wrote a wonderful piece on a bug out kit gun once. I forget all the details but one glaring item that could not be ignored was the fact it was a three-fifty-seven. Say it ain't so Skeet. I remember being very perplexed at the time. Not his beloved .44? The situation was more complex. It involved taking raw materials and making ammo on the fly, like the old mountain men taking kegs of powder and ingots of lead for ball, out on a 2-3 yr. run. In my haste I missed the actual question, in shock of the unlikely answer I was seeking. Put in proper perspective and looking back today it actually made very good sense. It was not his favorite exactly, just what he would work best with, under those circumstances.

I commissioned this several years ago after studying many like arms including the late Skelton's "last gun". I threw all my wants in there including my desires of history and style. This was for ME, not anyone else. Gary made it perfect just for me. I focused on light weight and I do have an extra all aluminum ejector housing but the mirror polished stainless one looks good, contrasts, and only is an ounce or two more. I have carried it for CCW, and hunting back up, hunting primary, and really enjoy target shooting with standard level loads. It still is not much under 2-1/4 lbs. and I first questioned the flush cylinder pin, it's hard to slide out. But the reason is to garner a little more ejector travel with the short 4" barrel. I can handle a trade off if it has purpose. How often do you use it anyway compared to the ejector rod? Every detail is like that, has thought.

I have others but I could do fine with this one, just fine.
