The reason the ATF is hot on the bump stocks . . .

. . .is because that's the "hot ticket" with all the anti-gunners both on the civilian scene ("the kids") and all the politicians seeking to insure their re-election and promising to "do something". The minute that issue tapers off a little and some doofus starts blathering about something else, that will become the ATF's prime concern. They're gonna do whatever the Congress authorizes and that's exactly what they're supposed to do. They are not an independent entity that makes up the law as they go, and we sure don't want 'em to be. They switched their position on bump stocks when Trump "suggested" they "re-evaluate" the definitions.

I personally don't have a problem with the ATF as long as they play by the rules. It's Congress wee gotta worry about, and all the states and municipalities "making law" as they see fit . . . and Presidential "suggestions".
