something vintage and classy from an estate sale
I set this aside for my collection months ago but it will sit in my safe forever or until I croak and Colleen sells all my crap. So I decided to put it on here. I figured one of you guys that enjoys the old classic African guns and scopes would like it.
This is an old scope that was presented to a Dr. W. Gerard in Berlin in 1950 (I think by the date on the scope). It is a heavy all steel scope and still clear. My guess is it is a 4X but it obviously was made custom for this Dr. Gerard. It has the European post reticle and if I read the settings right it is pre-set for 100 yards (meters?). It came in a leather carrier with a strap so your trackers could carry it for you. It probably went on a snap on scope base and rings like they had back after WW 2. Anyway, it is a classic old scope and I would love to put it on an old classic Rigby rifle and take it to Africa. But as much as I like to envision that, it will never happen. So one of you guys that gets into old classic scopes and guns might want it. I have no idea what it is worth or what I gave for it but it was an expensive scope in it's day. So let's say $100 plus shipping.
