even the plagiarizing P.H.C. In fact he was tops! The idea of sorting out a maneater over bait has always been a fantasy. Gary's scope made me wonder. It must have been very fancy kit back in just post-Victorian days. Would you want an early optic on your Cat-ender or a naked blaster?

Personally I favor a low power wide field of view optic. The old Weaver K2.5 and K3 are great scopes. At point blank distance it matters little to me. Anything farther and it greatly helps me distinguish a rock from a hog laying down. Or a black Leopard....

I'm told that higher velocity cartridges are more telling on solid hits with large cats. Didn't a bicyclist get killed by a Cougar just lately?

Actually the bicyclist was killed by stupidity

the cougar just helped it along. Fall City area of western Washington. According to the news report and his injured friend they were just trying to scare the animal off the trail by running and shouting at it..... Of course the poor animal was killed in response, hope it didnt have cubs it was protecting.

Oh my! I've had a housecat truly wad up on me

hunt them any day of the year. A 230 lb cat like that could easily carry off a small child.

I would really like to hunt one!

the dogs and keep up with them. Hunting in the snow is the best time as we can tell if it is a big cat or a smaller female etc by the tracks. But running after the dogs in one to two feet of snow is rough.
