Back in the 70's while I was stationed in Germany that did the same thing. Had to send it back to S&W, took a couple of months but when I got it back is shot great. There were about 8 of us that bought them and mine was the only one that had problems. When I got it back the action was slicked up and it shot better groups than any of the others.
