I went out and shoot my LAR Grizzle 45 Win Mag today. I finally got it to empty a full magazine!!!! Recoil was much lighter with compensator.
Is the compensator helping the function, or

The compensator helps with recoil only. I have had a lot of load trouble with this gun. I finally went to a 250gr cast bullet sized .450. I am going to eventually size some jacketed bullets to .450, but no luck so far with jacketed bullets.

Feeding problems

I tried Hornady's 240gr. .452 bullets, bulged cases feeding problems. Then went to Nosler's 250gr. .451 bullet, less bulge, still had feeding problems. I then went to Lyman's 454190 sized .452 then sized again to .450. Problem solved.
Kase was a wealth of info on the Grizzly Win Mag for me

I installed #18 lb. Govt. springs for the Recoil ass. and fitted a Commander bushing on the barrel. The Millett rear sights have a engineering flaw. Underneath is a very tiny E-clip that can come loose. Usually it's still held captive so get a light colored cloth on the workbench to be safe. When you remove it it WILL FALL OUT. If the clip comes loose the rear blade will hunt around only a few thousandths but plenty to throw your groups all over.
I bet a dollar to a doughnut that is the issue you are having. The guns in general are about like an accurized Govt. model and usually can do 3" groups at 50 yds pretty easy if you are up to it. Certainly at 25 yds.

A new recoil spring can’t hert I got a couple from LAR, about the only parts they have left. Gary hooked me up with great reloading data. They seam to like a pointy bullet. I use the 260 gr Nosler partion.

Grizzly and the flat nosed bullets. My reloading dies came with 2 bullet seating stems, one for flat nose bullets and the other for round nose bullets. I used the one for round nose bullets and as it seated the bullet it also rounded off the soft lead nose so it turned into more of a round nose bullet. This had worked in my 44 Auto Mags so I figured it would work with the 44 mag Grizzly. That one little change solved all my feeding problems.

years, even one of the 10" long slides. We have had them in 45 Win Mag, 44 mag and 50 AE. The 45 Win Mag was the best as far as reliability was concerned. I don't remember having any feeding problems with that caliber whereas we did with the 44 mag and the 50 AE. We never had any problems with the Millett sight on any of them but we never took the rear sight off.
Mine did that and I've seen two others teeny clip.

It stays captive on the underside. Wiggle the rear sight blade, if it wiggles around it might be worth checking out. FWIW. (BTW I really like Millett sights)
