Hello Gary. Too bad you weren't in town

We had a ton of them for supper tonight.

A close friend of mine told me that they are great with a drop of mayonnaise. Never thought they'd be that good.

I have often wondered who the silly bastard was that

ate the first oyster. I can imagine this addled moron picking up the oyster shell, and prying it open and looking at that slimy cold blob of snot and said "that looks good. I think I'll eat it." I can't think of anything I would rather not eat more than an oyster. There has to be a kink in a person's brainwaves to tell him to eat something like that.

I'M WITH YOU AND ESPECIALLY NOT A TON OF THEM!

Shellfish during the Colonian period

was one of the most important foodstuffs for people. I participated in a professional development on the history of the oyster. It was really fascinating. Often we do not think much of an oyster but two hundred years ago it was the "Big Mac" of the day. If you went out for lunch while at work most likely you would have a serving of ale and oysters.

In fact one of the first environmental lawsuits was over the issue of pollution and the oyster beds in Long Island Sound in the mid to late 1800's.

I love them raw. A touch of hot sauce of wasabi and slurp it down. In the past, people would prefer them to be boiled or fried.

RAW, BOILED, OR FRIED--NO THANKS.

was why most only lived to be 45 or so. They drank out of mugs that were poisonous, they ate meat that had gone bad and called it jerky and did a whole lot of other things that weren't good for them, although they didn't know that. And eating oysters was right up there with the rest. The Chinese got it all started saying an oyster would improve your virility. Oysters were mostly for guys that couldn't get it up. I guess that is why a lot of guys eat them today.

You got to fry it before I'll eat it.

One of the finer things in life is raw, fresh shellfish like an oyster or a cherrystone clam. In fact I'll gobble down a couple of the big giant quohogs that are as big as a large man's hand.

A drop of Tabasco or wasabi. Wow.

You and Pete are several bricks shy a full load

I’ll eat a lot of things but oysters aren’t one of them.
