Reeder Custom Guns - Thief in the dark

I have a great watchdog he is a catahoula cur. Not much gets by him. Tonight he told me we had company. So I go out to see who stopped by. Being I wasn't expecting company in this late hour I got fixed. And since it is dark I decided on the short barreled 12 gauge.

I go out and he takes me to the perpetrators. That's right, 4 of them were doing their best to rob me blind! A mixed race band of thieves- 3 coons and one possum were all together in my fig tree going after the little that we left behind( too high to reach).

Beaux was none too happy that I didn't let loose on them. He isn't as tolerant as I am. He even tries to bite the yard man when he comes to mow! Which is terrible because that happens to be my Pop!

I love living in the rural south!

.. Damn I love an airgun. A hot 22 Cal would handle coons and possums. But a good 25 would really do it.

Coons and squirrels are real trouble. I have one coon that will not go into a Havahart trap. I hate killing anything anymore and coons are hard to kill but the CCI Stingers seem to work.
I had a squirrel chew the nylon gas line on my 1990 Buick and I was lucky it didn't catch fire since the hole was near the muffler. I used a brass insert and cut the bad section out and put the line in boiling water to heat it up and then inserted the barbed connector.

Squirrels can smell plastic and they will dig in your potted plants, etc. One year I had a squirrel dig up about 20 Dunstan hybrid chestnut trees out of the pots I had rooted the nuts and by the time I found them, the roots had dried out and they all died.

I'll stick to a shotgun or my marlin 1894's for most varmints. Closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away out shooting kept away form each other's directions of course) don't bother each other. If it's very late we may call and make sure backup isn't needed. But no bother.
