Reeder Custom Guns - 41 GNR #2 Bullet selection

I was browsing the pages of bullets in 41 caliber and came across the Lehigh Defense Xtreme Defense bullet. It’s a 150 grain solid copper bullet that flutes are cut into to make it disperse energy into the target, they call it a fluid transfer monolithic bullet. My curiousity is peaked if anyone has used these bullets before in any caliber. They list that bullet loaded in a 41 rem mag at a little over 1700 fps. I know my 41 GNR #2 in a 10” barrel would do well over 2000 fps, and it being a copper monolithic there’s no chance of it breaking up. This would be for whitetails at 100 yards or less so no need for a bullet that would penetrate super deep. Thoughts?

gimmick. Stay with bullets that have a good long reputation of working. My favorites are the Sierra and the newer Hornady. The 41 caliber Sierras, 170 grain and 210 grain have taken literally hundreds of big game (deer size) for me. Lee Jurras used the Sierra 180 grain JHC in his 44 Magnum Super Vel ammo and it was like a lightning strike. I have used that one and the 170 grain JHC in 41 mag with the same results. I watched Charlie Herf use the 170 grain Sierra in the 410 GNR to drop a big bull elk.

My opinion is just that. My opinion. No more, no less. It is your money. But don't believe everything you read.

the 210 grain Sierra bullet in the 41 GNR#2 in a revolver. Dropped him like a rock. He was still alive so I put another in him for insurance.

When I first saw the fluid transfer monolithic bullet I thought maybe this will be the one bullet that does everything....Sorta like a "mix master" because of the flutes....After seeing the damage on game....just another bullet...

I’ve been using the 210 grain Hornadys and they are plenty fast and accurate. My only issue is I’m a tinkerer and don’t know the rule if it’s not broke don’t fix it! Honestly could probably drive the 170s just as fast as that 150, I’ve always found monolithic bullets to get to higher pressures faster and not have quite as much velocity.

to not having a lead core. That is a problem with the Barnes bullets. They tell you to drop your load by 15% to keep the pressures down. The only time I ever use a solid is when hunting dangerous game. Steve Hornady sent me some of his new DGS (Dangerous Game Solids) and his new DGX (Dangerous Game Expanding) bullets. My PH told me to use the expanding bullet on my Cape Buffalo and it did fine. So I didn't even get to try the solids. But for anything smaller than a 1500 lb Buffalo or 700 lb bull elk I would stay away from solids.
