Reeder Custom Guns - WB mentioned the Trail Gun in 38 Super...

A few days back. My first Trail Gun was a 38 Super Gary put on the "In Stock" list.

It is still one of my favorite guns. But, I made an error when I bought it.

I should have gotten Gary to add a 9mm cylinder to it. Strange, but I see factory 9mm ammo 30% cheaper than 22 Magnum.

So, close to the top of my list is to send it back for an auxiliary cylinder. It'll be a dandy plinking gun with cheap ammo.

built in 38super or 10mm auto. I keep going back to 10mm. I think I just like it but don’t have a set purpose for the build which is why I can’t decide....

I love my smallbores. Going to build more of them.

But, for true trail carry the 10mm is best. It outperforms the 41 Special and 38 Super. Bullets expand and an auxiliary cylinder in 40 S&W is icing on the cake.

I have two 10mm I got from Gary in the 1911 platform. I don’t have a bad thing to say, both are fantastic guns. Now I was kicking around a trail gun in 10mm. Now add the 40sw cylinder and you could potentially have best of both in one gun.

To me, a 6 or 6.5 inch barrel would be ideal.

In Starline 10mm brass. A very relaxed load of Longshot pushed them to 1075 fps. That's the max recommended by Berrys. Penetration is great and mushrooms to Nickel size. Perfect for trail use and easy on the ears. I suspect pressure 22,000 psi +/-.

I've worried about it backing out but it never has. For some reason, with about 1.5" of bullet jump, it is very accurate. That and the 0.002" diameter bullet difference seem to matter little.
