Has Ruger gone downhill?

I have a Ruger KN36 that I bought back in 1977 that has a canted barrel. I only shot it one time before I realized the problem and it has been in the safe since then and long forgotten.
So I email Ruger to get it fixed and they want me to call them. Their phone system sucks since they use the pleasant sounding woman's voice which doesn't work with my hearing loss.
They want me to sent it through an FFL which would costs me around $70 assuming they pickup the return shipping.

Try calling Ruger service again. I just got my single seven in 327 federal back from service. I told them i wanted a pre-paid box to return gun back for repair and they sent me one. I took gun to local gun shop and they sent it off for me. It was returned to me today repairs took about 2 weeks.

Can I ask what the Single Seven issue was?

first off you can send it yourself. An FFL is not required

going to a manufacture and UPS and Fed Ex have both gone sky high on their prices. It is going to the manufacture so I would go to the P.O. and get a flat rate box, wrap the gun good in bubble wrap and send it to Ruger that way. It would be a lot cheaper. Remember Ruger doesn't have anything to do with the shipping costs. So don't blame them for that. They stand behind their guns and will do what is necessary to get the gun fixed. Every company has a lemon from time to time. Ruger is just as good if not better than ever.

I am out of luck talking on the phone. I need a RMA number from them to return it.
The audio level on their phone system sounds like they are out in the barn. You get in the system and go round and round.
I tried emailing them again explaining the problem and no luck. I was hoping they would send me a box for return.
Thanks

GUNSMITH COULD FIX IT FOR LESS THAN THE SHIPPING.

I thought that was a typo

I have had close to 90 some handguns pass through my hands the last 57 years and you reach a point where it is time to unload.
Many were NIB S&W's from the 70's. You forget about some of them that are not of interest. I bought a lot of them since I worked many hours and never had a vacation most years. At times I was buying one or two a month. I traveled a lot and always checked out the local gunshops when time permitted.
The S&W's have been a good investment in most cases.

I HAVE NOT REACHED THAT POINT, WELL
