common thing these days. We have had several folks call and say their revolver in 45 Long Colt rims are rubbing. The problem is foreign ammo is not always built to the proper specs. The rim thickness on most revolver cartridges as set by SAAMI are supposed to be around .055 give or take about .005. The problem is I have seen rim thickness up to .083 and as thin as .042. This poses lots of problems. If we set the headspace on U.S. made ammo then there is a good chance the foreign ammo will rub and maybe even lock the gun up. On the thinner rims you could get a misfire. So my recommendation to folks that have that problem is pick one or two brands of U.S. made ammo that works in their guns and stick with it. The cheap junk sold at Walmart and elsewhere may well cause you lots of problems. And the problem is seldom the gun, but the ammo.

Banshee. One brand of 22 Hornet brass works fine, some of the others rub badly and actually lock up the cylinder.
