we were talking about the difference in rim thickness

down below. A weekend or two ago I was loading up one of our cartridges based on the 30-30 brass. One brand of brass had rims so thick they wouldn't go in the shell holder. I didn't measure them at the time but they were badly oversize. Rims that thick would quite often not allow the TC barrel to close enough to fire.

Guess SAAMI standards are out.

brass and ammo companies overseas do not have to go by the SAAMI specs. I have noticed a lot of difference in ammo and brass made overseas thru the years. For while ammo made in So. Korea was extremely hot. Some of the 22 LR made out of the U.S. varied a lot in power. Foreign 45 ACP seemed to be a hit or miss on quality. CDM ammo, made in Mexico was what gave the original 44 Auto Mag a bad reputation. It was underpowered and caused constant jams.

Like I mentioned in another thread below I just tell folks to try to stay with U.S. made ammo.

I had some Hornady 30-06 brass

With wacky rims. I worked with one of their technicians and they provided a return label and sent me a new box.

Hornady folks are good people

I always try to use Hornady and Starline brass. Hornady 303 Britsh brass is all that will stand uup to my loads in my old original 338 JDJ.
