250 GNR - Since Gary opened the door today...

I've set up my auto-indexing press to load bulk 250 GNR. This is by far my favorite Reeder cartridge at this point.

It'll do 1800 fps with the 60 grn Hornady. But, I prefer the 55 grn GT Cast at 1340 fps. A small dose of Unique does the job.

The GT Bullets average around $.08 each delivered if you buy in bulk. Add a primer and powder for each round costing about $.13 each. That comes out to about $6.50/50. About half the cheapest 22 Mag ammo on earth.

This low pressure load keeps noise low and accuracy has consistently stayed under an inch at 25 yards.

Glad to see Gary is coming around to economical shooting habits.

250 GNR in a revolver, after hearing all the horror stories about small caliber necked down cartridges backing out and locking up the gun. But of the 5 guns we have chambered in that cartridge so far only one has reported to have backing out problems and that appears to be a load malfunction as far as I can tell. We shot 25 to 30 rounds thru each gun we have built and none have had the backing out problem so far.

The cartridge also has plenty of killing power as Nate took a nice eating size hog at the HHC with it. That was the first animal taken with it.

A lightweight Blackhawk based something and maybe that other one we spoke about.

The Blackhawk will handle spitzer bullets and used to hunt small game with.

One pass through the size die and done. About the same powder capacity as the 25-20 WCF.

For small game, it has no peers. As Gary points out, some not so small of game too.

I've killed a lot of game with my 25-20s. The 250 GNR gives me that performance in a Single Six size gun.
