Being somewhat close to the 303 British cartridge, have you ever considered using a modified 303 for a wildcat cartridge?
The 303 British has been wildcatted to death...

I know in everything from 22-416 for certain. Even the early version of the 444 Marlin was a wildcat based on the 303 British or 30-40 Krag case.
JD Jones had a 338 based on the 303 British, but dropped it for the 444 case.
Many single shot guys chamber or modify chambers of 35 Remington to make the 35R Remington. It would be difficult at best to have any originality.
Huey is right. There is nothing the 303 will do that

the 405 case won't do better. Plus there is plenty of 405 brass, so no reason to go with the 303.
But, don't underestimate the 303 British as is...

Gary has a great match quality reamer. My last build was a Reeder G2 Carbine. It has about the same power as a 300 Savage and crowds a 308 Winchester pretty close.
We used one in Africa for multiple one shot kills on animals up to 750 pounds.
Few cartridges can compare with its 130 year history either.
the reamer is typical Dave Manson's excellent quality

To 300 GNR length and maybe a 5 shot cylinder. And yes a shortened 405 necked to 30 cal would be more better.
