We didn't have individual issued cars. The guy I shared a car with always left a briefcase in the passenger seat that had extra maglite battery's amongst other things. One night/early morning as I was driving home all of a sudden a gunshot rang out. Caught off guard I wasn't sure what to do. I could smell the gunshot smell and quickly realized it came from inside the car. A 40s&w round had somehow got against a maglite battery and ignited.
