I'm a sucker for old Colts, BIG and Little ones

I struggle with it. I usually pass more reasonable "middle" of the road stuff that is typically more desirable by rational folks. But I sure have fun along the way.

Taffin had an article a while back about the underappreciated little revolvers that are a real treasure to own. There are many out there. They have practical value if it is arguably not "tactical" by modern standards. I'm not of the ilk to go around wearing all black and hoping to get into a situation where I can "shoot" a bad guy. However I do exercise my rights to be armed and self protected. These little ancient gems will get it done.

I did't really mean to buy this, bid the minimum and by golly snared it. Not to be confused with the "Police Positive Special" or plain P.P. this is a smaller version of the Police Positive, smaller than a S&W J-frame, teeny with a 2.5" barrel. It is 6-shot and despite ".32 Colt Police Ctg." is simply a .32 S&W Long chamber. Colt had ammo made under their own monkier with a flat nose bullet (probably minuscule superior, maybe) so they didn't have to mark "S&W" on their gun barrels.

I've had an older model that had a knife blade front sight and teeny U-notch rear that was totally invisible. However accuracy was great when I endured the struggle. This later 1934 vintage has a more pronounced square front sight and square notch rear groove. Sadly it has the typical chipped bottom grips (reproductions are available) and has evidence of rust frosting in several places. I knew the value would not be impaired if I planned to have Gary refinish it eventually. He sould be able to make quick work of this little restro project. No regrets, it will be a fun project and still valid for CCW. I can do some special XTP .32 S&W Long ammo and in the past simply dropped some Hydro-Shok Federa. 32 ACP in them in a pinch.

Simple mind, simple pleasure.

P.S. Did they ever make a grip adapters for these teeny "Pocket" Positives?
