Reeder Custom Guns - a new big game rifle just finished.

We have brought back our Kodiak Hunter series of big game and dangerous game rifles. The newest one is a very special Ruger #1 chambered in 378 GNR. It has a 22" barrel with barrel band front sight and rear express sight. The stocks are a dark walnut with Ivory Max forend tip and grip cap. The finish is our deluxe Black Chromex with dangerous game scenes engraved on each sideplate. The gun has a full action job and loaded round indicator. The 378 GNR has proven itself all over the world with several Elephant and Cape Buffalo taken with it. We have the loading dies or you can get loaded ammo from Colorado Custom Cartridge. All in all it would be hard to find a nicer dangerous game rifle than our new Kodiak Hunter. The Kodiak Hunter is normally $1795 on the customer's Ruger #1 so this package would normally run a bit north of $2900. It is sale priced at $1795 plus shipping.

As one of the fool's that spent/wasted the money on several of these wonder cures that "give better accuracy ", save your money and find a load the gun likes. That actually works, not every gun likes every load.

to accurize it? I’ve read some articles on this and it’s supposed to really work. I have no first hand knowledge though....

Ruger would have done it years ago. Just another gimmick to take a fool's money. The Ruger #1 is a hunting rifle, not a target rifle. Pure and simple.

Interesting. I’ve always taken it as gospel, seeing who it came from. A very well respected gun writer did some extensive work on them. I do agree with your analogy of hunting rifle vs. target rifle.

This Fall. I own them in some crazy calibers from 218 Bee through 450 Bushmaster.

Hick's makes an "Accurizer" that is straight up crap. Had a friend try one and the gun never shot right again.

There is also several who drill and tap the forearm hanger. Then use a screw to apply consistent pressure on the barrel. Straight up BS too.

The Ruger #1 is very hard to beat in real world use as is. In magazine pages, gimmicks seem to rule the world.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I’ve always liked the #1 and keep an eye out for a good deal on one to come my way. It’s folks like you and Gary who share personal experiences that mean far more than a magazine article.
