Several have asked me about the 50-70 G2 Carbine...
I look forward to this gun and will likely add a pistol length too.
The 50-70 brass is readily available from Starline. Dies are available from several manufacturers.
The old round is like many forgotten favorites and considered obsolete in the Short Mag Era.
This is a mistake. The gun loaded to under 20,000 psi matches or exceeds 500 Linebaugh revolver ballistics. Think the 500 Linebaugh won't kill big game?

we started building 50-70 Contender barrels in 1987
and have built quite a few. For a while the orders slacked off because brass wasn't available. Loaded reasonably even in the old Contender it does well. This is Joel Sherman with a Spanish goat taken with one of our 50-70 barrels at Tellico junction back around 1990.

Century Mfg (one of the companies that used to build .45-70 revolvers) had a .50-70 Government model. The Model 500.
Magnum Research makes the BFR in 45-70
maybe Gary could rebarrel and rechamber.

This cartridge works great in the G2 or Encore. It should probably be left for that use.

Arms revolver was a monster of a gun, probably weighed in the neighborhood of 7 lbs. A neat showpiece but very inefficient. The 45-70 and 50-70 to be loaded properly have to be loaded with rifle powder and in a revolver, maybe half the powder burns in the barrel, the rest in a bright flash at the muzzle. The cylinder in this gun holds a 45-70.
