Reeder Custom Guns - 240 Raptor

As you may remember WB loaned me his 13" SS 240 Raptor with Tasco 2x8 scope (2.5?). I had worked up some loads using 4198 and went out for the last time on Sunday with full loads and 80 SSP bullets from Sierra. Old ones that I had lying around for years. At 70 yards I was able to shoot just over an inch in strong wind off a sawhorse. I thought that was pretty good for 66 year old eyes!! Had 2 gallon jugs of water against each other and one shot obliterated them both and no recovery. If you want a light recoiling TC with heavy punch for varmints and small deer (like in AZ) this would be my choice. I used once fired .204 brass with no failures. Awesome caliber. Bullets run from 55 gr. to at least 105's. I need to experiment some more. Never really got into the light bullets. I put back some 60's to try. The 105's shot fantastic and I packed it for Hogs once at HHC. Shot a Muntjac with my revolver in it's stead.

It may be time for a re-do.

and the old .257 and .25-06 is more a fantastic med. game round that can easily be used on varmints. The butt up against each other more than overlap. IMO

At the Celebrity Handgun Hunt I took 2 or 3 barrels in 240 Raptor and that many in 257 Raptor. Each barrel accounted for 4 deer, 3 does and one buck. There is really not much difference in the killing power of the two. I wouldn't feel undergunned going after deer or antelope with either one.

we have had whitetail deer taken with the 240 Raptor
