I'd much prefer a motion sensor notification. I'm beginning to look too. Have a need for a remote property monitoring.
Some of these things include motion detectors.

someone intent in breaking in your house would ring the doorbell. Plus a serious burglar would know your schedule and know if you are at home or not. And more than likely he would use another entrance like the back door or window. I wouldn't want to rely on it.
They are useful, some of our kids were passing out

literature in some neighborhoods, invitations to a special event at our church. My daughter was in a group and they rang a doorbell. A loud voice startled the kids asking what they were doing. Upon explanation they told the kids they were on vacation and they were notified via cell phone. The security system was watching the house for them.
Another note. Our utility bought a cheap system where we recorded two thieves stealing a $12k Kubota mower and trailer. The resolution was so vague it was useless as a proof of event other than the obvious. FWIW
Those that have the ring

I really like it. There are only 9 houses in our subdivision. We have it posted private drive and as a result we get very little traffic. So, when it does go off, I check it out. It’s great and I’d highly recommend it. If your neighbors have them, you can link to your neighbors if you desire. (I don’t link, because I may piss off my porch from time to time if I have to let the dog out in the dark). Just looked on my phone and back on feb 26 around 5pm this ass was driving reckless in the neighborhood. I was at work, so I made a call to a buddy and requested a drive by. Turns out he was hopped up on something and decided to run from the police. Buddy said he fell ....
