shooting and shooting 200 rounds every day rain or shine in practice. I used Red Dot as I could run 5½ grains with the 230 grain hard cast ball and an 8 lb keg lasted me a good while.

Seems to work well. Like your Red Dot load, powder goes a long way.

The data on the Hodgdon site gives good velocity with cast bullets for 45ACP and 45LC. 45 LC with 250 grain cast SWC is over 1,000 fps @ 13k psi.
I havent tried it yet, but i will next chance i get.
I liked red dot for my 1911 back in the 70’s too, been using 4756 lately because it meters a little better......sorry for the long winded rant.

I try to stick with what works for me. A few people have bitched because we only show 3 or 4 powders for some of our calibers in my loading manual. I tell them those 4 work, why confuse them with 8 or 10 powders.

has become mainstays for me. They both provide ballistics that blow other powders away.

In the more mild mannered cartridges like 32 Magnum, 38 Special, 44 Special and 45 Colt they close the gap to the Magnums without spiking pressures.

I use 5 gr. of Greendot with 225 gr, cast

Have you tried CFE pistol?

there are so many new powders out these days.

I took a lot of years, but Longshot and CFE Pistol...

6 gr Red Dot is a 45 LC 250 rnfp target load for me.

I use Green Dot . . .
