Read an article earlier today that 2 large bull elk had been poached inside Rocky Mountain National Park. At least one had the head severed and the carcass was left behind.
Rat bastard poachers.

and horns off and sell them to some rich dude who can show it to his other rich dudes and tell them that he shot it. A good head and horns will go for $15,00 to $20,000 easy.

Same thing happens in Victoria, Australia with much desired Sambar. Penalties can be tough, but seldom full enforced, unfortunately....
