Reeder Custom Guns - Pachmyer Grips and Forearm

I bought a this set of pachmyers for my encore. It says it the standard model made for the lighter calibers. The package says for big magnum cartridges they recommend a lighter forearm. Has any of you used this heavier forearm and had any issues?

.476 GNR, .440 GNR, .416 GNR. But I have not used a bi-pod on that stud, only used a sling. The Pachmayr has an aluminum insert (that's why they are notably heavier) and the factory TC uses a plastic one in the grip, but I think the TC forends are just rubbery. The G2 can use a standard Contender forend I think, but not the grip. They are different angles.

An insider's tip. The Encore grip will also fit the G2, ditto any special folding stocks or what not. There will be a 1/8" gap on the sides of the grip, but as long as the bottom surface is seated and tightened firm it will have no adverse effects. Lose grips break wood. FWIW

forend circa 1985. THe sling swivel took the place of one of the mounting screws, not Pachmayr a product. On my very light recoiling 7mm GNR using a bi-pod the screw stripped out (not the hole thankfully) in only a few shots. Seems it only had 3-4 threads holding it.

We take things like that for granted. Any forend only has 5-6 thread turns on a #8 screw, in two places, holding everything. That grip has a larger screw with 5-6 turns keeping that bucking rig out of your face. Some how it all works.

I wont be using a bipod either. I might try and cut the rubber and counter sink some washers and get long forend screws to increase the surface area. I just really like the looks of the Pachmyar forend.

I've not torn one up yet, and I tried.

Try putting an O-ring under the screw head

I had an older style Contender w/Pachmayr
