Been chasing .22's

Finding what works in some guns is quite a chore when it comes to .22's. My little carbine that I modified last year is somewhat touchy as to what it will feed reliably.

I have a bunch of the cheap lead roundnose ammo but it don't always like those. I bought a couple thousand Winchester plated HP but man .. some of them won't even fire in a Ruger Single Six! I have some that I tried .. turned the cartridge 1/3 of a turn in the chamber and tried again .. and did it once more with nothing happening.

Tried Aguila Super Extra plated hollowpoints and it runs good on those.

CCI Mini Mags function very well with more of a "report" at the muzzle than others. Last night I was in the shop shooting some on my indoor range. I fired into the bullet trap and as I did one of the 8 foot long florescent lights fell on the floor right in front of me!

Been shooting my daughter's Bersa Thunder .22. Boy is that thing touchy about what it likes. The best so far ... no failures of any type whatsoever .. are the Remington Golden Sabre plated round nose.

The good thing about shooting lesser brands in it is that you get a lot of practice at clearing misfeeds, failures to extract etc.

But since we have been in rain for quite awhile and no letup in sight, shooting the .22's in the shop is about my only way of getting some trigger time. And I am learning what works in what.

Yep , I bought a case (5000) of Aguila Super Ex- 2 years ago

Right now I'm trying to grab some of the new Federal ammo that mushrooms at 100 yards. Will be interesting to tinker with.

My CZ America loves CCI stingers.

They are really great rifles

Had a friend order a Custom Cooper 22 LR for $2200+...

He shot competition rimfire silhouette. Then I finally talked him into trying a CZ. He choose the heavy barrel "Target 452" that cost him $390 plus tax.

The CZ outshot the Cooper will all ten types of ammo we tried. He was more than a little upset. My rolling on the ground laughing didn't help much.

I have 4 CZs, 2 452s and 2 455s, 22 LR and Magnum

great guns. All 4 of them had the long barrel and high front sight. I whacked the barrels to 16" with no front sight and they shoot great. Our squirrels here are the size of a house cat and get way up in the top of the Ponderosa pines and bark at you. The 22 Magnum is great to knock them out of the top of the trees.

Thought you had a CZ 512 as well?...

for Christmas a year or two ago. That is the semi auto 22 Magnum. I have collected 22 rifles for some obscure reason. I have several Sears J.C. Higgins model 29, 30 and 31, all made by High Standard and great semi autos. I have a couple of Marlin 99 M1 carbines, a couple of Remington 541s, and some others I can't remember right now. Not really sure why I collect them, except that several of them I had when I was much younger and am trying to re-live the past, I guess.

Good to hear I need a 22 WMR

Rifle as a companion to the AMT 22 WMR I got from you. If I find a good deal on a CZ I will send it to you to get it shortened.

Have bought several types of Win and they are horrible! Some won't chamber in my S10 cylinder. CCI are all fine and I have bought a bunch of the 36gr Armscor. They are awesome and function/load in all my 22's.

If you can find it, try the Armscor 40gr HP

Worked in everything and shot well in 5 out of 7 guns including a 6.5" single six. And if you have the 22 mag cylinder for it, try the armscor 22 mag also. It shoots the same size group as the 22 lr for me and same POI at 25 yards. Didnt have to adjust the sites at all.

CCI seems to be the best all around.
