enough handgun hunters that people are not too surprised by it. I do get the "why in hell would you want to do that?" from time to time but it is not giving me crap, more just a question of why.

I have had some folks wonder at my common sense taking on that big Cape Buffalo, but it is simply knowing what your handgun will do. I thought about trying him with my 410 GNR, the same cartridge I took my Central African Buffalo (Savannah Buffalo) with years ago. But after talking it over with my friend and PH, John Abraham, I dropped the idea. He reminded me that a pissed off Cape Buffalo can cover 50 yards a lot faster than I can reload a single shot pistol. So I went with the 450 GNR, which is only a couple hundred FPS under a 458 Win. Mag. It is a 500 grain bullet at a bit over 2000 fps. And I practiced with that gun every chance I got for 2 months before the hunt. So I knew exactly what that bullet would do at 65 to 70 yards and closer. Those ranges were what John said he could get me up to on the buffalo. So it wasn't a gimmick shot. It was a shot any of the Misfits on here could have made just as easy as I could. It is all in knowing what your gun will do and allowing it to do it's thing.
