but she has been there before with me so she knows not to take a shopping list with her and just take it day by day and see the animals that are there and if she spots something she likes then go for that. She is like me in that if it isn't record book she won't pull the trigger. She has taken quite a few non-record book animals in the past in Africa, so she will be picky this time.

A lot of folks bad mouth hunters looking for record book animals or trophy hunting, but it just makes sense. Trophy hunting means you only shoot the biggest, oldest bull in the herd. And he is probably no longer a breeding bull so there is nothing lost in the herd. Non trophy hunting takes out breeding bulls and younger animals that are not mature yet and this always hurts the herd. Plus the older and bigger he is the more he costs so a lot of that money goes back into conservation and all the meat goes to the local villages. As John's skinners were skinning my Cape Buffalo, I stood there and watched them for a while as I had them looking for my bullet. They were constantly laughing as they knew there would be meat in their village that night. While they were skinning it they would cut small pieces of the back strap off and eat it raw. They were like little kids going thru their Halloween candy.
