In that day the 357 Magnum was touted as "The World's Most Powerful Revolver." I suppose it was.

At any rate, I had to have one. I bought a Ruger Security Six for myself in August 1979 for my 15th birthday.

My Dad bought me the Marlin 1894 to go with it. I hunted hogs mostly with the combo and never had to finish one off with a second shot.

Never regretted starting with revolvers, but my bank account probably does.
