Cut a hole in the wall about an inch smaller in diameter than your mount. Place in the open space between the studs a 2x4 cut on each end at 45 degrees.Screw the 2x4 in place with the center where you want to want the mount. I've used lag screws to hang moose, elk and multiple deer. Should work for you. SHEETROCK WILL FAIL. Hope this helps.
