Blast from the past...

Since I'm needing to make some .450 GNR brass for my Encore handgun, I believe this was making .416 GNR in the same method. Personally I loaded a "blank" .348 Win. with about 60 grs. of AA#7 (up to the shoulder/neck of the .348 case) and a toilet tissue ball to keep me from spilling it all. The flash was horrendous as you can see, so was the thundering sound! The streaks going everywhere are burning granules of powder. The only safe place around was directly behind it! Actual shooting it's just a quick flash, I recorded it to review frame by frame to see what was really going on, how dramatic.

The brass were fully formed with a little lip sticking in the rifling throat. I chucked the cases in a lathe with the LEE universal case holder and trimmed them to a perfect length for the actual chamber. I'm heading off to do it all again. I don't really need that many cases, usually (40) total. I test loads with (20) cases and retain another (20) for hunting loads once I figure it out. As brass gets several firings on it I set it aside for Trail Boss and cast bullet loads. Lasts a very long time not doing much more than neck sizing, just bumping the shoulder to make lock up smooth. When they split I make .510 GNR cases from them!
