for distance, 100-200 yds. I had this thing laying around for an iPhone 6s which he has. I have a 7 Plus that won't fit, and an old 4. Those adapter things cost around $90! My Boss gave it to me since I'm always taking photos using the microscope by holding my phone up to the eye piece (for our website). It works for me.
If he can use it great. I'm taking him Roman's G2 13" in .30 GNR to look at and maybe try. It has a 2-7X Burris and can shoot store bought .30-30's. He can make me some brass. Maybe it will hook him. A good excuse to give Handgunning a try.
