I am starting to gather some stuff to experiment with on the old 30-30 Trapper.

Has anyone used the Hornady 140 gr. Mono Flex bullet? The weight sounds interesting. I normally use the Speer 130 gr. and have taken some large deer with that. The 140 gr. bullet is one that I would like to try in it.

I started (last year) to mess with the 125 gr. .311" bullet for the AK ..

Result were interesting but so far I have not found a load as accurate as the Speer 130 gr. .308" bullet. More work needs to be done there.

I am planning to do so this next year.

I have a Big Bore 94 in .375 I got from Puffy

It's very special to me now. I want to change the sights to the aperture like you have. I guess I'll need to blank the normal rear dovetail tastefully too. The Big bore may have a problem with the mounting or sight as it has that humpy receiver right there. However it may just carry forward a bit. Skinner makes one but I think I have to have it drilled and tapped.

I took the LEE 265 gr. FP and trimmed the fat base off the bottom and use a lube groove as a check shank. I think it runs about 215 gr. They are pretty peppy and even the .378 GNR likes the bullet. A light load even mimic's the .375 Win. carbine.

I'll get to it one day.

I’ve not used that bullet. Today I loaded some 30-30 using

150gr Speer sprn over 748. Mine is a pre64 94 made in 1950.

I've been experimenting with the 30-30 and Leverevolution...

Powder. In my Ruger #1, 2500+ fps is easy with a 150 grain SST. The 165 grain is only a bit slower at 2350+.

Leverevolution does require heavier bullets to perform correctly. So, I've abandoned lighter bullets, for now...

In my G2 30-30 barrel, I run all the Speer Hot Cor bullets
