It may be Christmas in the Tropics if:

(I wrote this about 2012 when we were living in Mozambique)

- Santa is wearing a Speedo.
- You have to explain to your children that "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" is not about race.
- You decorate a palm tree with Christmas lights.
- It is a great day if the temperature doesn't break 100 F. (38 C)
- You don't have snow but you can make a Sand Man on the beach. However, the sand is too hot to walk on so you stay home.
- Formal attire at the Christmas party includes shorts and flipflops.
- You eat Christmas dinner outside because it's too hot indoors.
- The locals consider rice and chicken a traditional Christmas meal.
- The Aussies and the South Americans really have the Christmas spirit while those from the northern hemisphere have a harder time getting into it.
- Hearing "Jingle Bells" when it's 103 F (39.5 C) just seems weird.
- If you meet anyone who knows what reindeer are they are most likely an foreigner.
- Many of the local people associate Christmas with the birth of Jesus more than people do "back home".
- Christmas greetings with your family are by Skype.
- Your Christmas package that was mailed to you by your family on Dec.1st most likely will not arrive until February.
