I do a lot of hiking in a Wildlife Management area with trails. Many people walk their dogs there too. Last week I approached 2 older women with a couple of dogs, one had a pit bull looking head that was wider than mine. She could barely hang onto it and that dog wanted a piece of me. I had my hand on my snub 38 and if she'd lost control of it I'm certain I would have had to shoot it. I don't understand why people have dogs like that.
I don't blame the dog.

Pit Bulls have a bad reputation, but are actually very likeable dogs. Unfortunately, their reputation is due to irresponsible owners. The incident in this article was due to the idiot owner walking his dog off leash in a public park. If the dog were on a leash as it should have been there would have been no incident. Responsible ownership includes getting proper training for the dog and yourself. It's like the responsibility we have with concealed carry. If one is going to own such a dog, get trained. You and the dog will be much better off. So will the rest of us.
Its a no brainer

Pit Bulls have the highest rate of attacks on other dogs, children, adults, domestic pets etc over any other breed. They also have the highest rate of deaths related to their attacks. Even trained dogs with "responsible" owners have turned on their owners. Statistically, the most dangerous fog breed to own. Just a fact.
the problem we have here in AZ, mostly down in

Phoenix, is all the gang bangers have pit bulls and kids are getting chewed up and killed almost weekly by them. I guess to be macho you have to have a pit bull
Seems to me

The critical mistake was that he had taken off the holster while cleaning the elk; ie. He didn't have access to the glock when the bear attacked.
Yep. Not smart at all.
