Hey Gary, when I picked up my grip frame last week I asked if you could build something like a Coonan 357 on your 45 frame, you let me know that it wasn’t feasable. When I saw your slicked up 22 mag I got to thinking, What about a 327 fed? Thanks

made by Rock Island and is strictly for the 22 mag. The frame and slide don't have the room for anything bigger. To get it to work with the 327 Fed would mean completely re-working every part of the gun and probably re-building the gun. It would be the same as building the gun totally from scratch and would be very expensive and feasibly take a couple of years.

diabolical .357 SIG is even hotter. Both can be done on the 1911 chassis, but it takes some real tuning skill to get it to work right. The .357 Sig is interesting, reflecting the very first semi-auto designs that actually sported a bottle necked cartridge. What turned me off of it so far is that it headspaces on the case mouth, not the case shoulder. Trimming to correct case OAL would be a paramount issue in reloading. I'm not sure how I feel about that, it's probably OK. Also there has been much written about the semi-rimmed .38 Super, should it be headspaced on the case mouth or that teeny rim? It does seem to influence accuracy to a great amount.
The .30 Mauser or much hotter 7.62X25 Tok is well established, and while it cannot be done on the 1911 chassis effectively (too long), it would be silly to say it is not reliable in the military platforms. We have a Tokarev tt-33 clone that shoots an 86 gr. bullet over 1500 fps with factory fodder. How's that for a .327 Fed. semi-auto!

Is about the same as 327 Federal. There was a semi auto version available, that wasn't a cut down rifle. Maybe you can find a used one and have Gary make it nice.
